DS Technologies Inc is looking for Senior Scala Backend Engineer role for one of our premier clients.

Job Title: Senior Scala Backend Engineer 
Location: Greenwood Village, CO (Hynrid)
Position Type: Contract

Job Overview:
Charter is seeking an experienced Scala Backend Engineer to join a small, agile team responsible for building and maintaining client-facing REST APIs that power our IP TV platform. The APIs handle critical functions such as consumer entitlement verification, on/off-net verification, parental control management, and user settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable microservices using Scala and Scalatra.
  • Develop REST APIs supporting high-volume client applications (hundreds of millions of daily calls).
  • Implement asynchronous, functional code using Scala Futures.
  • Work with technologies including Scala, Scalatra, Memcached, Kafka, MongoDB, Docker, Kubernetes, Splunk, and Datadog.
  • Enhance existing microservices and architect new ones as required.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an agile environment.
  • Take ownership of tasks and make key technical decisions in a fast-paced setting.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Strong proficiency in Scala with hands-on experience in functional programming.
  • Experience developing and maintaining microservices at scale.
  • Proficiency with asynchronous programming patterns (Scala Futures preferred).
  • Familiarity with APIs, containerization, and message queues (Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka).
  • Strong debugging, performance tuning, and problem-solving skills.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Team Environment:
  • Collaborative, small-sized team with high ownership and independence.
  • Agile development methodology and a focus on scalable system design. 

Flexible work from home options available.

Compensation: $55.00 per hour
